How Helena’s Came to Be
It began with a family’s courage.
In the midst of growing unrest in Iraq, a devoted mother, her young son, her parents, and her brother faced a painful truth — the world around them was becoming too dangerous to call home. Guided by faith and foresight, her parents made the brave decision to lead the family out, determined to give their children a future untouched by war.
Their journey took them first to Greece, where life was simple but uncertain. There, while little Finar played nearby, his mother found solace in what she knew best — styling hair. Whether in kitchens, courtyards, or borrowed corners of small apartments, she transformed that simple craft into a way to connect.
Eventually, the family reached America — a land of new beginnings, but also new battles. Starting with no clientele, she worked tirelessly, one haircut at a time, to build trust and community. Her entrepreneurial spirit was deeply rooted — her parents had always believed in building something of their own — and with her father’s encouragement, the dream of a salon began to take shape.
With her hands, her father’s guidance, and her son’s help, that dream became Helena’s Hair Salon. The walls were painted by hand. The fixtures were installed by family. Every inch of the space carried their fingerprints — a testament to what faith, hard work, and family unity can build from nothing.
Over time, Helena’s became more than a salon — it became a home. A place where conversations flowed as easily as laughter, and every guest was treated like family. For the family who built it, it was a symbol of everything they had fought for — stability, love, and the dignity of creating something meaningful.
Today, that legacy continues through Finar, who now leads Helena’s into a new era of excellence and innovation. Carrying forward his mother’s dedication and his grandfather’s entrepreneurial drive, he has redefined the salon’s mission for a new generation — merging craftsmanship, confidence, and community under one roof.
